Tracking Family History

best website to do a Genealogy/family history search?
im interested in tracking down past relatives from the UK and would like to know what the best website to do so is, or have someone do it for me? as in a proper agency look into it for me?
thanks
If you don’t mind paying money Ancestry.com is one of the most useful sites on the ‘net. They have the censuses from 1841-1901, all the birth, death and marriage indexes since civil registration began (1837) plus a whole load of parish records. A lot of it is scanned too so that you can see the actual image not just the transcription.
Findmypast.com has all the main things that Ancestry has plus the 1911 census but is not as nice or as quick to use.
If you don’t want to pay out you can start by using free sites such as familysearch.org (which is very good) for the 1881 census and a load of parish records. And http://www.freebmd.org.uk/ for a partial birth, marriage and death index. For useful links world wide you can’t go past www.cyndilist.com
If you don’t want to do it yourself you can hire a professional Genealogist that will change you by the hour and in my mind kind of defeats the purpose (like taking up knitting as a hobby and then paying someone else to do the knitting). Although obviously they are good if you need something special researched that you can’t get to yourself.
